No news is good news

Ik weet het, het is even geleden dat ik nog iets gepost heb. Maar wat moet je vertellen als alles goed gaat? Geen plasje meer in haar mand sinds 02 januari! Hopen dat het zo blijft Laatst lag ik in de zetel, Bruja vond het tijd om mij eens te plagen. Met haar snuit boven mijn hoofd komt ze ruiken. Beetje akelig zicht hoor, maar vlug zakt ze naar mijn armen, waar ze onder het dekentje kruipt. Daar vond ze niets leuker om mij te kietelen in mijn oksel. Waarschijnlijk vond ze het een heel plezante geur (ahum) of vond ze mijn schaterlachen aandoenlijk, hoe dan ook ze hield niet op. Uiteindelijk ben ik recht moeten gaan zitten want ik kon niet meer van het lachen. Zoals jullie konden zien in het filmpje in de vorige post, ze speelt met de fretten! Toen speelde ze nog op een afstand, maar vandaag durft ze echt met haar snuit tegen een fret duwen om aandacht te vragen. Bubu, aangemoedigd door haar gedrag, ging een stapje verder. Hij begon te happen, waarop zij prompt zich wil onderwerpen. Maar dat gaf een raar zicht: ze bukte zich met haar hals scheef naar hem toe, maar die hals is even lang als Bubu zelf. Omdat Bubu vervelend bleef doen(denk dat hij het gebaar niet snapte) heb ik ze een time out gegeven. Volgende keer was het weer koek en ei. We kunnen Bruja tijdens de schoonmaak van de kooi bij de fretten laten, ze amuseert zich rot. Al is het even hart vasthouden als ze beginnen te rennen in huis. Bruja schuift nogal op onze tegels en de fretten zijn wendbaarder, zij gaan onder de stoelen door. Maar Bruja moet echt langs de tafel gaan waardoor zij plots moet remmen en keren, met kans op botsing met de tafel of chauffage. Gelukkig zijn er geen grote accidenten gebeurd. Maar om zo Bruja en de fretten te zien spelen,… het vult ons hart met vreugd! Beste opkikker ooit!

I know, it’s been a long time since I posted something. But what do you have to say when everything is going great? She didn’t pee anymore in her basket since 2 January! Hope that we keep it this way! I was relaxing on the couch and Bruja wanted to tease me. With her snout above mine she came sniffing. That’s a scary view, I must say. But quick she starts sniffing under the blanket. She found my armpit and loved the smell I guess or she liked my reaction. I couldn’t stop laughing out load because it tickles. She wouldn’t stop until I sat up. I had to because I had no breath anymore. As you could see in the movie of the previous post, Bruja is playing with the ferrets! Back then she kept her distance, but today she really dares to touch the ferrets with her snout. Bubu, encouraged by her behavior, went a step further. He started snapping. Bruja responded immediately submissively. She lowered her neck crooked. That was an odd sight. Bubu is as tall as her neck alone! Bubu kept on snapping (I think he didn’t understand the sign) so I gave them a time out. Next time everything was forgotten. Now we can leave Bruja with ferrets during the cleaning of the cage, she’s really having fun! Sometimes we hold our breaths because they are running around in house. Bruja is bigger than the ferrets, not as maneuverable as the ferrets are, and she has no grip on our tiles. So when the ferrets run around the table, they disappear under the chairs, but Bruja has to go around. But at that time she had such speed and no grip for slowing down that we fear she clashes with the table or surrounding furniture. Luckily it didn’t happen.. so far. But to see Bruja play with the ferrets… it fills our heart with joy! Best boost ever!

Now, let me tell you a story about a dog and some ferrets... :-)



Bruja eet moeilijk. Tenzij je iets lekker maakt (groenten, rijst, nat voer..) voor haar, dan eet ze alles mooi op. Eerst duwt ze alles op een hoop terwijl ze eet, dan lekt ze alles proper en dan lekt ze haar vuile neus schoon, waar soms nog een volledig lek aanhangt. Honden etiquette zeker?

Bruja still eats difficult. She eats in tiny portions. Unless you give her something really tasteful. Vegetables, rice, wet food.. she loves it and eats all of it! First she pushes everything together while she’s eating. Then she licks everything clean and at last she cleans her dirty nose. On it hangs a full tasty lick food. Hmm dog’s etiquette?

Maar het hoogtepunt in die enkele weken: De EGS wandeling op Linkeroever! Sinds 5 weken zag ze de roedel en de opvangbaasjes weer. En ze herkende ze allemaal! Tijdens wandeling ging ze naast opvangbaas lopen terwijl Tom toch Bruja vasthad. Tijdens de rust in de zaal, legde Bruja haar hoofd op één van de honden (Tundra of Cora?) en vertelde het opvangbazinnetje dat haar hond dat eigenlijk niet toeliet als ze de andere hond niet kende. Ook wou Bruja telkens bij de roedel zijn. Ach, zo’n schatten.. Vooral Cora, die met haar poep de samba danste met mijn benen, om aandacht te krijgenJ We lieten Bruja met een klein hartje eens los in de zaal, ze kwam toch terug naar ons uiteindelijk. We zijn klaar voor Zonhoven!

The highlight in weeks: the EGS Walk on Linkeroever! Since 5 weeks she saw her pack and her host family! She recognized them all! During the walk, Tom held Bruja, but Bruja followed the host dad! Bruja wanted to be in the pack the whole time. During the break in the room, she laid her head on Cora or Tundra. The owner of Cora or Tundra told me that the dog won’t let that type of behavior of an unknown dog. How amazing that they recognize each other. They are such sweet dogs! Especially Cora, who danced the samba with her back with my leg. Hilarious! In the room we let Bruja loose. We were not at ease, watched her the whole time. But every time she came back. We’re ready for Zonhoven!
